I don’t show a lot of them because I want to honor the privacy of my clients. But people ask me often if I shoot boudoirs.
Their immediate follow-up question is why? Their minds go instantly to their partners (or lack thereof), and they say they’re not sure they’d like photos ‘like that’. ‘What do you even do with them?” Not to mention almost every woman wants to pound the gym for six months before even considering such a thing.
And that’s where I stop them.
To me boudoirs are so powerful because they’re stopping time for a few hours to capture your womanhood. Your femininity. I don’t think it’s wrong to do these as a gift for your significant other. But I think we’re missing out on the bigger gift it can be to really embrace who we are as women if that’s the only reason we do it. The female form is so rare and special. Our beauty is good and sacred. And it is the highest honor to share our beauty with the people we choose. Maybe these photos never get seen by another person besides yourself. I think that’s one of the most precious things. You are perfect as you are right now. You are enough. You are altogether worthy. No matter your age, your size, the amount of wrinkles or laugh lines you deserve to honor yourself and love yourself and your body. The boudoir experience is simply an avenue to celebrate that. So do I shoot boudoirs? Heck yes I shoot boudoirs!
XO,
Kat
